Germany / Brohltalbahn (August 1990)

Brohltalbahn is located on the west bank of river Rhein, from Brohl station of DB streching to the west, with 1000mm gauge.
One afternoon of Saturday, a shovel loader was loading coal to the loco No.5, preparing for the operation next day. This loco was procured from Polish Railway in 1990 and equipped with 4 driving axes. After loading coal, the loco moved on a dual gauge track with standard gauge of DB.

When I visited this railway in 2001, steam special passenger trains were operated every two Sundays. In the morning of the day of operation, No.5 was standby in a sideline.
The train left Brohl at 10:00 a.m. with 8 coaches and 1 wagon, supported by two diesel locos at tail for pushing. I chased the train with a car and took photos several times until the final stop of this train, Oberzissen, 12 km from Brohl.
Return trip of No.5 was light load with 3 coaches and the loco hauled with tender first. After 50 minutes' journey from Oberzissen, the train arrived at Brohl and passengers were getting off.
There was another train to be operated by this steam loco on the day, and no.5 was shunting coaches in the station. A girl was taking snap with the steam engine at the platform.
This loco had faced mechanical trouble in the following month, but due to the shortage of necessary budget, sold to other railway without repair.
